LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Coming off of strong fall campaigns, Randolph's tennis teams begin their spring seasons on Saturday at 1 p.m., at home.
On the women's side, Randolph went 1-0 in dual match play and produced multiple champions in tournament play.
The team found great success in both singles and doubles play. Four first-year players are on the roster for head coach Jamie Megginson.
Randolph's men's team split its two dual matches, falling to powerhouse Methodist before cruising against Southern Virginia in one of the team's most positive performances in years. Four of the top six singles players in the SVU win were first-year athletes.
At Methodist's invitational tournament, Randolph earned individual victories over potential conference foes.
The two teams will compete at the same site on all but five competition dates. Against single-gender institutions, the men will host Hampden-Sydney and the women will host Hollins and travel to Sweet Briar.
Against Washington & Lee, the men will host the Generals, while the women will travel to Lexington at later date.
The teams will compete together at home against Averett, Virginia Union and Greensboro before getting into the meat of the conference schedule.
Together, the teams will host conference opponents Lynchburg, Emory & Henry and Randolph-Macon, with a non-conference match against Ferrum mixed in.
In the ODAC preseason polls, the women's group was selected sixth. The men were ninth. Eight teams make each conference tournament.
