Busy Weekend Ahead For Tennis With Three Straight Matches

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph will travel to Roanoke on Friday, host Shenandoah on Saturday, and the women's team will travel to Sweet Briar on Sunday.

About the WildCats:

Randolph's women's team is coming off of a loss to national powerhouse Washington & Lee after a four-match winning streak. The WildCats swept Lynchburg and Southern Virginia before topping Emory & Henry, 5-3, and Virginia Wesleyan, 8-1, last weekend.

Sophomore Dina Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Colegio Las Fuertes) went 6-0 last week and was honored as the ODAC's player of the week for her efforts.

The men have one two-game winning streak and one two-game losing streak this year, but otherwise has alternated wins and losses in every match. The team is 5-6 on the year and 2-3 in ODAC play.

Saturday's home match is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. Each player has selected a faculty or staff member that have influenced or mentored them in a very positive way.

About the Maroons: 

The women's team is an impressive 8-1, but coming off of its first loss of the year, 7-0, to Radford. The Maroons are 4-0 in ODAC competition and one of only two unbeatens remaining.

Roanoke's men are 4-0 in non-conference play and 0-4 in ODAC competition, losers of three straight.

About the Hornets:

Shenandoah's women's team is 7-2, with both losses coming in ODAC play. The Hornets have defeated Guilford and Emory & Henry, losing to Washington & Lee and Bridgewater.

Their men are 2-6 and 0-5 in ODAC play. They are 2-3 at home and have lost all three road matches.

About the Vixens:

Sweet Briar is 4-7 and 2-3 in ODAC play, winners last time out against Lynchburg. The Vixens will be on the tail end of a back-to-back, as they travel to Bridgewater before hosting the WildCats.
