Men's Lacrosse Falls for the First Time in 2014, 8-5

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Olivet received outstanding goalkeeper play in today's 8-5 win over Randolph.

Ryan McGee stopped 10 of the first 11 Randolph shots on goal, keeping the WildCats to just one goal over the first half, courtesy of a marker from first-year Ryan Campbell (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest).

Coming out of the break down 3-1, Randolph tied the score within 1:22 when Bobby Crosby (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) and Andrew Gleitz (Plymouth, Ind./Culver Military Academy) struck.

After an Olivet goal, Corey Nehlig (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) leveled for the WildCats, putting the teams at 4-4 late in the third.

Four straight Comet goals put Randolph in a deep hole and a Colton Wood (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) tally was just consolation, as the damage was already done.

Despite doubling up Olivet's 25 shots, Randolph could not get the ball past McGee, who finished with 18 saves.

The WildCats won 11 of 16 faceoffs and had 12 fewer turnovers, winning the ground ball battle as well, but Olivet made better use of its shots.

James Collins had three goals for the Comets.

Randolph has a week off before a trip to ODAC foe Roanoke.
