ODAC Men’s Tennis Preseason Coaches’ Poll Slots Randolph College in 10th Spot

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason coaches' polls for the spring sports continue to roll out Thursday, and the men's tennis version tabbed Randolph College 10th as voted on by the league's head mentors.

Randolph, which returns its No. 1 player in Daniil Lyalko (Reisterstown, MD/Park School of Baltimore) and single-season win leader Dan Phung (Hanoi, Vietnam), earned 23 points in the selections. The WildCats will need big contributions from all of its members this season, as Randolph will sport a roster of six this spring.

The WildCats do have some experience back though, as five of the six returning members are sophomores. Shaun Chopp (Williamsburg, VA/Hampton Roads Academy) and Zach Dales (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque), along with Hart Gillespie (Hurt, VA/Altavista) will be looked upon to carry the load.

Washington and Lee University received 10 first-place votes and 100 total points on the way to heading the poll.  Bridgewater College picked up the remaining top consideration and 86 tallies, and Guilford College earned 75 points to sit in third in the annual survey of the league's head coaches.

Randolph will get its spring slate underway on Wednesday, February 20 as Virginia Union University comes to town for a non-conference match at 3 p.m. on the Randolph Tennis Courts. Full poll is below.
