Men's Tennis Moves Above .500 With 8-1 Victory

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph earned an 8-1 win over Virginia Union in a rescheduled affair this afternoon.

In doubles, junior Daniil Lyalko (Reisterstown, Md./Park School of Baltimore) and first-year Doug Corbett (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) earned an 8-4 win at top doubles, starting Randolph on the right foot.

First-year players Q Manglapus (Falls Church, Va./-)and JT von Seggern (McLean, Va./Langley) swept all eight games of their second doubles match.

Junior Zach Dales (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque) and first-year Tuan Tran (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/High School for the Gifted) took care of business at No. 3, 8-5.

In singles play, Lyalko fell at No. 1, but Randolph took the remaining five matches in straight sets.

von Seggern, Corbett, Manglapus and Dales played at spots two through five, while junior Dan Phung (Hanoi, Vietnam/International) made his mark at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-3 win.

The men's team will continue non-conference play Sunday at Virginia State.
