Martin and Hynes Reach Nationals With Reserve Champion Rides

ROANOKE, Va. -- Randolph is sending two riders to nationals after junior Reynolds Martin (Ruckersville, Va./Albemarle) and sophomore Meaghan Hynes (York, Maine/York) were named reserve champions today at Zones.

The two riders will be the fifth and sixth to reach IHSA Nationals as individuals in program history, joining Ashley Lovegrove, Kristen Ackerson, Glenna Kassel and Tracy Linsin, and the first for the team since 2009.

Martin reaches Nationals after a runner-up finish in novice flat, while Hynes was the intermediate flat's red ribbon winner.

Senior Alyssa DeNisco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) finished sixth in walk trot, which left her short of a Nationals appearance after a superb Regions ride.

The IHSA National Horse Show will take place May 1-4, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.

Both Martin and Hynes are currently slated to ride on May 1.
