LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph took game one, 3-2, in eight innings, but fell 7-3 in the second half of today's Senior Day doubleheader against Randolph-Macon.
In game one, the two teams had plenty of chances early, with nine runners left on based in the first four innings.
Randolph-Macon tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the seventh, but senior Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) once again worked out of trouble to force extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, the runner placed on second base via tiebreaker rules scored, but Carter stranded two on base to leave the disadvantage at 2-1.
In game two, Randolph got on the board early with a sacrifice fly by first-year Jackie Lamberty (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), but gave up four in the top of the third.
Nowak hit her third career home run, which hit off the yellow boundary line and bounced over the fence (click here for video of the celebration).
After first-year Haley Christensen (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) helped her own cause as she was hit with a pitch to drive in the second run of the inning, the bases were left full.
Randolph-Macon doubled its lead with a run in the fifth.
Randolph left at least one runner on in each of the first six innings for a total of 10 in the contest. The WildCats were 4-for-7 in getting the leadoff batter on, but missed out on all three bases loaded chances save for Christensen's hit by pitch.
The WildCats, who have played eight games already in April, will have off until a road doubleheader on Thursday.
